Breakfast is the most important meal of the day – but whilst we know that a traditional fry up is laden with fat, are we aware of sugar content of the alternatives?
Cereal is often deemed to be healthy – it certainly is lower in fat – but it can be packed with sugar, especially those aimed at children. So I was delighted to discover Lizi’s granola.
It contains less than 4% sugar making it an excellent choice. It is baked with a little fructose and black treacle which not only add flavour, but also crisps the oats, which themselves contain high levels of fibre. Daily intake of fibre is essential and helps maintain cholesterol levels, reducing the risk of heart disease.
With the addition of your favourite yoghurt and fresh fruit to taste, you will be enjoying a super healthy, incredibly tasty start to your day.
But don’t stop there – it is delicious as a topping for dessert or added to crumble, as a snack or even eaten straight from the pack.
Lizi’s Granola is available from Waitrose, Sainsbury’s. Tesco, Asda, Co-op, Booths and all good health food stores, with a RRP of £3.89 for 500g
