Our boys are back to school already.
We’re getting into a routine of remembering homework and PE kits, letters about all the extra-curricula activities available, letters informing us of upcoming school trips – and of course the letters reminding us that nits have been spotted…
As a parent of a child in primary school, I am well used to seeing these. I’ve always kept products at home to treat an infestation. But Munchkin suffers from psoriasis and not all treatments on the market are suitable to use on his delicate scalp.
My teens dread hearing of ‘nits’ – it’s not cool for a smart young man to be infected and one of my boys has, as Munchkin describes ‘thick and luxurious’ hair that is long and curly. An absolute nightmare to try to tackle with a fine toothed nit comb.
So when we were asked to trial Vamousse, we jumped at the chance.
Vamousse is a two pronged attack; a shampoo to help prevent nits and a mousse to kill lice and eggs.
I replaced the boys’ usual shampoo with Vamousse as part of their daily routine. The shampoo is clear and thick, lathering up nicely and cleaning their hair effectively, leaving it shiny. They all commented on how fresh it smelled and I have noticed the bathroom smells citrusy when they’ve finished, not unlike the citronella candles you light on holiday.
I decided to treat Munchkin with the mousse just as a precaution. His hair is very short so I just applied plenty to his dry hair, massaged in and left for 15 minutes. Again, the mousse had a wonderfully fresh, not at all medical smell and the product felt nice and thick. Once the 15 minutes was up, I used the nit comb that was included to comb through his hair before shampooing. One thing I really liked was the length of the teeth of the comb – super long to ensure efficient removal of both lice and eggs.
These products are definitely a great addition to your routine if you are likely to come into contact with nits. The protective shampoo retails at £9.99 for 200ml whilst the mousse treatment retails at £14.99 for 160ml. Both are available to buy at Superdrug, Boots and all good pharmacies.
