Here at the sixdegresofharmony household, we love reading! Munchkin is an avid reader and will read every night before going to sleep. When he hasn’t got a book with him, he will happily read my emails, ingredients on the back of food packages, newspapers and magazines.
Little Tiger Press recently sent me two new lift the flap books, illustrated by the incredibly talented Gareth Lucas.
Peekaboo A to Z and Peekaboo 123 are sturdy board books with large flaps, perfect for little hands. The comical and colourful pictures will keep little ones entertained for hours and leave them wanting to look through again and again.
Peekaboo A to Z introduces youngsters to a whole menagerie of animals; the alliteration of an alligator admiring art, a bear balancing on a bean, through the animal alphabet is so amusing and is a wonderful beginning to a lifetime of reading. The pages of illustrations are beautiful and the text is colourful and interesting too.
Peekaboo 123 sees the animals compete in a race, from 1 to 100. Again the illustrations are beautiful and quirky and have a sneaky wee snail hitching a ride on each page, encouraging little ones to study the pictures whilst learning to count. As with the previous book, the text uses alliteration and is an absolute joy.
I absolutely adored these books, as much for the artwork – which was a delight – as the educational aspect of early counting and phonics and would thoroughly recommend them to any primary care giver.
These books are priced at £9.99 each
