All too often, our children gravitate to technology for their ‘down time’. I really don’t mind them unplugging from everything and becoming engrossed, but I do like to limit their time on whatever device they are into this week.

Family time is precious. Games and activities that we can do together are difficult because of the spread of ages. So when we find something that we can all take part in – and is fun – I’m all over it!

Enter Stikbots!

These are the new craze: posable figures that have little suction cups on their hands and feet. They can be positioned, thanks to their very flexible joints, and stuck on a whole variety of surfaces…

You can download the app, either on your iPhone or android phone (there is an element of technology, admittedly, but this meant that we had no trouble encouraging our boys to get involved) and then start making videos.

The app is incredibly easy to use; when making a video, there is a ‘shadow’ of the previous frame to help you position your characters’ next move.  One you are happy with your little film, you can add sound effects and music and then it can be shared across social media.

I can honestly say that the only downside to these is that my iPhone has been commandeered by Munchkin.
